DIY Ironman Arc Reactor Prop
Halloween is a great holiday, it is filled with candy and fun! One reason people get excited for the halloween season is because they get to dress up in costumes, but many people forget about props. That is why this halloween season I decided to create an iconic prop from scratch, but the best part is that you can easily make it at home! A person cannot start a project by simply starting it without planning, one has to go through the design thinking process. That’s what I did. For starters, you first have to find out what your target audience will be, (Adults, teens, children, or toddlers) in this case I decided children since most of them dress up on halloween. Then, you have to understand what they dress up as, and after interviewing many teachers with kids I learned that most kids dress up as superheroes, mostly the Avengers. I finally decided that I would create a DIY Ironman Arc Reactor. Today, I shall show you how to create this costume prop.
Supplies
This project uses a small number of materials, here they are…
- Medium-sized lid (Could be as big as a fist).
- 2 different types of paints, blue, and black.
- Hot glue gun.
- Hot glue gun glue.
- Old belt.
- Paintbrushes (Different thicknesses)
Paint Your Lid With Light Blue Paint
This step is fairly simple, you will want to cover your lid in light blue paint, make sure that not a single part of the lid’s original color is still visible. Cover it in as many coats as you like.
Add Black Lines and Black Circle
Now, you want to actually add the black lines and circle that go to the center of the arc reactor, be careful, try not to spill black paint on the areas that will not be covered in black paint.
Fix Any Imperfections
In this step, you will perfect any areas that were painted wrong, try to use thin paintbrushes. This step can be repeated as many times as necessary.
Attach the Belt
Now the final step is to attach the belt to the painted lid. I used hot glue because of its versatility and how easy to use/find it is. Use the glue to make strips over the belt and make sure it anchors into the lid’s plastic so that it does not fall easily.
Finished Product
Now you are ready to rock the Halloween season with your new Iron Man prop! Great Job!
