Ever wanted a cozy heated pillow for chilly nights? This DIY project uses resistive heating, where electricity flows through aluminum foil, generating warmth. The airtight bag traps heat, making it last longer. Heat spreads evenly, creating a soft, portable, and battery-powered warmer. Let’s build your perfect heated pillow!

These are all the tools and components I used to build my DIY Heated Pillow:

A Metal Spring

A Lithium 3.7v 3500mAh Battery

The Lithium Battery Holder

A Rocket Switch

A Flat Piece of Wood

A Piece of Wire

A Small Piece of Foil Paper (To cover the spring)

A Scissor

An AirTight Bag

Connect the red wire from the battery to one side of the switch.

Connect the other side of the switch to the heating element inside the bag.

Attach the black wire from the heating element back to the battery’s negative terminal.

Insulate all connections are Secured.

Prepare the Heating Element

If using aluminum foil, fold it into strips and attach wires at both ends.

Test the heating element with the battery to make sure it warms up.

Secure Components With Hot Glue

To keep all parts firmly in place and prevent movement:

Attach the Switch & Battery Holder

  1. Apply hot glue to the bottom of the switch and battery holder.
  2. Press them firmly onto the wooden base and let the glue dry.

Fix the Heating Element (Foil) to the Wood Piece

  1. Place the heating element (foil-wrapped spring) on a small wooden stick.
  2. Add hot glue underneath to hold it securely in place.
  3. Ensure some space for air circulation, preventing overheating.

Secure Wires Neatly

  1. Use small drops of hot glue along the wires to keep them in position.
  2. Avoid covering wire connections completely, so they remain accessible for adjustments.

This setup will make your heated pillow more durable and safe by preventing loose components.

Place the Heater Inside the Airtight Bag

Seal the heating element inside the zip-lock bag.

Make sure there’s some air inside before sealing—it helps distribute heat.

Test and Enjoy Your Heated Air-Tight Pillow

Turn on the switch and feel the bag slowly warm up.

The heat will spread inside the sealed bag, keeping it warm for a longer time.

For extra comfort, place a Soft Cloth on top of the Bag before using.

Bonus Tips:

🔥 Use a low-voltage battery for safety.

💨 If the bag gets too hot, open it slightly to let some heat escape.

💤 Perfect for cold nights, sore muscles, or hand warmers!
