DIY Glitter Moon Necklace


Hope you guys enjoy this DIY. The great thing about this DIY is that it is very versatile, it can be changed to your taste in almost every aspect. The clay base can be changed to any shape and is a great substitute for when you don't have cabochon frames.

Materials



- E6000 glue
- Toothpicks
- Paper cups/disposable cup
- Plastic knife
- Jewelry resin
- Silicon resin mold
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Knife/sharp scissors
- Glitter-assorted/various glitters
- Small beads, sequins, gems or charms
- Ribbon
- Premo Sculpey clay, black, silver, white and translucent
- Glass lid or dish
- Oven
- Baking sheet
- Pliers
- Chain
- Jewelry bail
Step 1-Clay Moon



- Mix and blend all clay colors to your desire
- Flatten out the clay into a 2-3mm thick disk
- Trace a moon shape from the clay with a toothpick
- Use a knife or scissors to cut it out
- Rub glitter on the surface of moon
- Bake in the oven, 275 degrees and 30 minutes per 6mm of thickness
Step 2-Resin




- Mix equal parts of resin, or follow the instructions with resin and prepare
- Mix in paper cups with plastic knife
- Use knife to coat a thin layer on top of moon(this will keep the glitter and accents from falling off)
- Add glitter and charms
- Add another layer of resin, (add as many layers as you want, but let each layer dry before you add another)
- Let the pennant dry for 12-24 hours, it takes 3 days to fully cure
Step 3-Bow and Bail



- Use E6000 glue to glue the bail to the moon, it takes 24+ hours to dry
- Unroll some ribbon and start tying a bow- the width of the ribbon affects the is and range of the bow
- Adjust size and shape to your desire
Step 4-Chain





- Cut 2 feet and 3 inches of chain-feel free to extend the length of the chain to fit over your head, or shorten it and add a clasp
- Open a link on the end of the chain with needle, or flat nose pliers
- Close the chain link around the bail
- Do the same with the other end of the chain and attach it to the bail or a link on the chain
- Glue the bow to the bail with E6000
