DIY Glass Lights

Broke away old glasses?? Got a scold from mom or from anybody?? Forget that. You will now build something which can be kept on as a showpiece and all you will forget all the scolds XD. Here you will recycle those broken glass pieces and build out a beautiful color changing lights. The glass pieces will shine off those lights and hence will be ideal as a showpiece.So let's get started...

3. LED of different color 5pc

4. Arduino Nano (you can use any ready made lighting stuff too...I just made it by myself with the Arduino)

5. Blade,Scissor,Double,single sided tape

6. Battery 9V

7. Switch 1pc.

Now take a circular piece of thermocol. If you don't have it ,cut a piece of circular disc of thermocol from any old electronic stuff's pack. Then make a line with a pencil along the diameter.Then Cut it with a blade.Then place all the LEDs and fix with tape. Keep space so that the glass piece can sit on the row of LEDs.The LEDs will be at the bottom and glass will be at the top .Hence as light will glow, the glass piece will shine.Now color the above surface with black paint.It will make the stuff brighter. I personally used Arduino nano. U can use any other board too. Since I don't have any premade lighting solution,I decided to make that with Nano.If you have any u can use them too. Now attach the Arduino at the back side of the thermocol such that the nano can't be seen from the front. Now attach jumpers from arduino with the LED. See the circuit diagram for more details. Attach the Key too.

You can find my code attached here. You can increase number of LEDs and hence change the code too. I used the PWM pins of arduino for the varying intensity thing and used random function for the random glowing of LEDs with the varying brightness. The code is easy to understand and I have also commented every step. Upload it and test it. Attach the battery then and see if it is working or not.

Now place the glass pieces on the above side( the side painted black).Fix them with a little hot glue or mseal or anything at the corner. of the pieces.Now get yourself a clean glass bowl and fill with water. Then carefully place the whole setup on the glass bowl. Refer to the pic. Finally switch on and see whether it is working properly or not.

SO now you are ready and place the bowl on your living room and call your mom XD.
