Welcome to our DIY project of making a unique and beautiful clock out of a wooden chopping board! This design is inspired by the blue ocean and uses epoxy resin to bring the ocean to life. With this project, you'll be able to make a functional and eye-catching statement piece for your home. We'll provide step-by-step instructions on how to complete the clock and provide helpful tips along the way. So, let's get started and create an amazing clock from a wooden chopping board!
Supplies
Materials
- Wooden Chopping Board
- Clock setup
- Epoxy
- Epoxy color
- Stones and Gravel
- Diorama Powder
Tools
- Palm router
- Drill machine
- Curving tool
- Hair Dryer
- Flame torch
Processing the Chopping Board

- Take a wooden chopping board.
- Mark the chopping board where the epoxy design will be made.
- Grind the depth onto the chopping board using a palm router.
- Make a hole in the chopping board by using a drill machine. This hole will make way for the clock's dial.
- From behind the chopping board make a space for the clock's machine.
- Using a wood carving tool, make some abstracts on the front side of the cutting board to resemble higher grounds and shorelines.
- To give the wood some depth, we burn the surface using a flame torch.
Creating the Seashore and Island

- Mix Epoxy + hardener (2:1) with gravel.
- Put the mixture on the surrounding edges of the centre and the coasts of the wooden mass to make it look like a seashore and a nearby island.
- Now decorate the island with some green artificial moss (Diorama Powder).
Creating the Sea

- As our base layer, pour the clear Epoxy resin mixture.
- We started making waves on our canvas now that we had added white colour to our epoxy mixture.
- Using a hot air blower, we started giving the waves their natural look.
- Now that we've added a light blue colour to our base layer and spread it with a hair dryer,
- Again, using the chicken stick, add white to create a wave effect.
- To create the effect of a deep sea, add a deep blue color.
- We used a slow-dying epoxy that takes 24 hours to cure fully.
Fixing the Clock Machine

- Here we are using a wall clock machine with an hour, minute, and second dial.
- Place the clock's machine and dial onto the back side of the cutting board.
- Finally, secure the clock's machine and dial with screws and glue.
- Now, our stylish timepiece that resembles an ocean is ready.
- This clock can be hung on the wall or set on a table.
