DIY Engravement Pen! Simple and Efficient!
Hello everyone! I built an Engravement Pen! The pen, depending on the speed of the DC Motor, should be able to cut through materials such as metal, glass, wood, and other common objects. An easy-to-build tool meant to help you carve out whatever you think would look great. The required parts are price friendly as well as easy to find at local supermarkets such as Walmart.
Supplies
1 popsicle stick
1 9V battery
1 DC motor
1 switch
1 thumbtack
1 pencil
Hot glue gun/ double-sided tape
Wiring supplies/ soldering supplies
Main Components Assembled
the first thing you must do is to hot glue or use double-sided tape in order to stick the DC motor, switch, and battery to the popsicle stick in a specific order. Precision is very important here due to the amount of space the Popsicle stick actually has. In the picture, you can see that the DC motor is placed on the edge of the stick then followed by the switch and the 9V battery.
Wiring/ Soldering
before moving any further. wiring will be required of course so that the switch, motor, and battery can coincide with each other. soldering is one of the most or the most important parts of the building process. Be careful while doing this part as you may get burned. Supervision of an adult is advised.
Pencil in Action!
As seen in the video, the pencil was cut in a way to fit in the DC motor and act as a base for the thumbtack. After being placed firmly in the DC motor then place the thumbtack on the base of the pencil. Great! now you have your sharp friend to help you carve out.
Thumbtack
In this step, I removed the needle of the thumbtack and place it on the pencil part of the pen. In turn, this would be the part that cuts through the objects you would want to cut!
Complete! Ready to Go!
After each step was completed with precision, the pen should be ready to be used! One important tip I would give to you all is the soldering part. Patience is key to soldering properly and making sure that you did not just hassle through the process.
