DIY Edible Texture Finger Paint for Kids
In these unstable times, when the only safe place is your home, it can be really challenging to maintain a life full of excitement and joy! Lets bring some color into our lives by making homemade texture finger paint for your little ones. It sure will bring you some kind of mess on your table, but the joy, happiness and a masterpiece is more than enough to refute it!
By making this project, you can not only save a money and drive to a store for a paint, but also make a product, that does not contain any toxic ingredients and the texture of it will be a great sensory activity for your little one.
For this project you will need:
- 4 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 cup water
- food coloring
- tiny trays
- toothpicks
Make a Mix!
Start by adding 1 cup of water into a pot, following by cornstarch, then mix well until incorporated. Heat the pot on a medium heat until it starts to thicken up and continue stirring until the mass starts to clear up.
Let It Cool!
Transfer your mixture into a bowl and let it cool completely. When cooled, divide it into small trays.
Add the Colour!
Now it's time to add some color! Add tiny bits of food coloring to each paint tray. Don't be afraid to experiment - mix different colors to make your own palette of kids favorites! This is a great opportunity to learn about color wheel with them - yellow and red makes orange, blue and yellow makes green, but what happens when purple is mixed with green? :)
Time to Make Magic!
Place the finger paints on a table and set an inviting environment around it. Let them explore their inner Michelangelo while you can enjoy your daily cup of coffee not worrying about them putting color into their hands, and mouths.. and table!
P.S. For curious parents - this paint easily comes off with a single wet kitchen paper or a baby wipe!
