DIY Easy Customizable Garland!

image.jpg

Today I will show you how to make an easy paper decoration, that looks simple but beautiful. You can customize the shape being used and make up to four with each paper. You can make as many as you want and connect them to make an even longer garland. I hope you have fun trying out this Instructable!

Supplies

  • One sheet of paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

Making a Strip

First, divide the paper into four vertical bars by folding in half twice.

Unfold and cut on the three lines to make four strips of paper.

Folding the Garland

For this step, take one of the strips and fold it in half one or more times. If your shape is smaller, you can fold until the strip is small enough to fit your shape.

*You can fold the other strips if you want, but you only need one to make the shortest garland, and four to make the longest garland.*

Drawing the Shape

Draw the shape of your choice, but make sure any part of it is touching the folded area.

*Remember that you should make your shape big enough to fit more than half of the surface here. If your shape is too small to fit on more than half of the surface, you can draw it twice or fold in half again and draw.*

Cutting Out the Shapes

Almost done!

Cut out the shapes with part of it touching the fold, and try your best to erase any pencil marks still visible.

Recycle the scraps as it is good for the planet. :)

Assembling the Garland

Gather up all your cut out shapes and unfold them. As of now, you may have two or three (or more) shapes on each mini-garland. Here I will show you the process of assembling them. You can also assemble these with glue, tape, or string.

*The order does not matter for each way you assemble the shapes for the garland.*

To assemble these pieces together, poke your scissors very carefully on the edges of the shapes.

Then pinch and fold each edge into the other with the use of the holes.

Done!

This is how my finished garland looks.

You can always add more shapes to your garland. Maybe some different designs or colors on the shapes? You can be creative and customize your project the way you want!
