DIY Easter Garland

Hey all! I'm finally back! This is my first DIY of 2017. I got this idea when out walking one day and decided to share it with you all. So let's get started! :)

Here's what you'll need for this DIY:

-String

-Cardboard

-Little plastic eggs

-Glossy varnish

-Glue

-Soda ash

-Small container

-Scissors

-Pins

-Needle

-Tape measure

-Pencil

-Beads

Grab the tape measure and measure your window. Cut the string long enough that it fits. I like to cut it longer than I need it (but not too much longer because then I'm wasting string) and then use the excess to make key chains or something. Now grab your cardboard and draw an S on it. Cut it out. If you have S hooks or Command hooks, you can totally use those. I don't have either, so I just improvised. ;) Every window is different, so measuring is key. ;)

Now grab your soda ash, your container, your string, and some hot water. Pour some hot water into your container and mix some soda ash into it. I used about a teaspoonful. Stick the string into the soda ash water and let it sit for 20 minutes. Take it out and put it in the dye. Let dry.

Seriously, though. That hurts! D:

Grab your needle and carefully punch a hole in the top of your eggs. It's kind of hard to see in the picture, but these eggs have little holes in the bottom so I just used those as a guide to line up the holes on top. Now stick the egg on a skewer or toothpick and paint it with your varnish. Let it dry. Repeat until you have as many eggs as you need.

Now grab your string, beads, and eggs and go to town. ;) I alternated blue, green, and white eggs for this DIY because those were the colors I bought. If you have issues with the string fraying, just take a little drop of glue and twist it up. That makes it far easier to put the beads on. I've used this trick for years. You can do whatever combination you like, though. When you're done, hang it in the window (Or wherever you choose!) and enjoy! :)
