DIY Down Firing Port Active Subwoofer
Hey! everyone My name is Steve
Today I’m Gonna show how I Build this 12” Active Subwoofer with Down Firing Port using a 280 Watt Class D plate amplifier
I’ve tuned the Enclosure to 35Hz, The bass I get is very strong and there is no port noise The Amplifier is Great No heating issue

Cutting
I used 18mm MDF and used my Table saw Bosch GTS10J to cut it
Dimensions
- 59 x 35.5 cm 2 Pieces up and down Panel

- 39 x 35.5 cm 2 Pieces Front & Back Panel
- 32 x 35.5 cm 1 piece middle panel

Assembly
I used wood glue and corner clamp to hold it

Chamber
I used a piece of wood to divide 2 chambers one for amplifier and one for subwoofer
I've installed it 2" deep from the back and used Nails to hold it and then I used wood glue to seal it

Front Panel Assembly
I used wood glue and nails to hold it

Back Panel Assembly
I used a Jig Saw to cut mounting for the plate amplifier and then used wood glue and nails to hold it

Finishing
I used wood filler to fill all the imperfections and then used a sander to finish it up and then used a Round Over bit to round the edges

Circle Cutting
I used a circle cutting jig to cut the speaker hole and port hole

Panting
I have gone with black and this is a Speaker Cabinet Paint it gives a rough texture I applied it using a paint roller

Matt Finish
Matt Black looks Fantastic

Port
I used a 4.3" dia and 14" Length PVC Pipe and used masking tape to make it a tight fit and then used spray paint to paint it

Legs
First, I drilled 4 holes and used 1" rubber legs and then tighten it with some wood screw

Wiring
I drilled a hole in the middle chamber for passing speaker wire and then used some glue to seal it

Subwoofer Installation
I used a centre punch to mark and then used a drill to make holes for screw and then I used a Spoung tape to make it leak-proof and then tighten up the Subwoofer using 8 Screw

Amplifier Installation
I drilled 4 holes for screw and then I plugged the speaker wire to the amplifier and then used 4 screws to tighten it up

Finished
- Plug the power wire
- Plug the input wire
- Adjust the controller
- Enjoy
