DIY Digital Sextant

This instructable is to teach how to make a digital and manual sextant. this instrument is used to measure the angle between any two visible objects.

The primary use of a sextant is to determine the angle between an astronomical object and the horizon for the purposes of celestial navigation. The determination of this angle, the altitude, is known as sighting (or shooting) the object, or taking a sight. The angle, and the time when it was measured, can be used to calculate a position line on a nautical or aeronautical chart. Common uses of the sextant include sighting the sun at solar noon or Polaris at night (in the Northern Hemisphere) to determine latitude.

Cut a quadrant of cardboard of a size with is easy for you to handle. Cut two such pieces and join them.

Then with the help D mark angles on the sextant. Attach the straw to the sextant which will help you to view the objects on which you are pointing.

Make a hole on sextant and attach thread then tie the thread with nut. Then decorate the sextant if you like.

At the second side of sextant attach your mobile cover with the help of glue.

Attach your phone to the cover and your digital and manual sextant is ready.
