The Darksaber is probably the coolest lightsaber in all of the Star Wars universe (in my opinion). I will be teaching you the step by step instructions of making this for yourself. Good luck!

Supplies

  • clear acrylic/Plexiglass (2 mm thick)
  • LED light strip
  • 3D printed hilt
  • black vinyl
  • silver paint
  • soldering kit
  • AAA Batteries
  • glue

3D Print Hilt

Parts.jpg

3d print hilt (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2188594). Then drill/hollow out the middle (for future steps).

Acrylic Cutting

Cut acrylic into 4 layers of the blade shape with the template that is shown. Have two of the layers be hollow so the LED light strip will fit inside of it. Cut with disc edge sander for best results.

Glue Acrylic Together

Glue one of the solid acrylic layers to one of the hollow ones, then stack another hollow one on top of the other hollow one. Use very strong glue.

Put in LED's

LED strip.jpg

Put the LED strip inside the two hollow layers of acrylic. Take out microcontroller from the battery pack. Solder 3 AAA batteries vertically onto the microcontroller. Put batteries into hollowed out hilt.

Connecting Blade to Hilt

Glue top layer of acrylic onto all the others so the hollow ones are in the middle. Place projection of blade in hilt emitter, and glue.

Vinyl/final Step

Cut vinyl into shape and design shown and stick onto blade. Then mirror (flip over) that cut and do it again to other side. Then you're done. Use remote/controller to turn on.:)
