DIY Crush Bleached Jeans
The bleached denim trend is still kicking and looked easy enough to tryout on a pair of jeans that needed some reviving. With a little inspiration from some Free People jeans I've seen, I decided to experiment with studs to give them more of the rock-and-roll look.
In this instructable I'll show you how to bleach a pair of jeans and also add some metal studs.
This is a really easy project, but definitely worth practicing a few times before trying this on your favorite jeans.
Materials
1 pair of gloves
1 bucket
1 pair dark jeans
2 rubber bands
1 large bowl or other liquid container
1 bottle bleach
1 measuring cup

"Crush" Your Jeans
Take your jeans and ball them up.
Then use the rubberbands to keep it in a ball shape.
Place the jeans in the bucket.

Mix Bleach
Put your gloves on.
Mix 1 part bleach and 4 parts water in the bowl before you put it in the bucket (this is probably unnecessary).
Then pour over the jeans into the bucket. Add enough bleach/water mixture to cover the jeans. I ended up using about 5 cups of bleach.

Wait and Observe
After an hour, check the progress. My jeans took about 2.5 hours.
I checked on them by moving the rubberbands or pulling them apart a bit to see if there are signs of color change.
Different jeans, take different amounts of time. I tried 3 different types of jeans before these, and had pretty diverse results.

Wash and Wear
Once you see the desired color results, take them out of the bleach bucket and rinse as thoroughly as possible. I used the rinse only cycle on my washing machine, but you could also rinse in the sink or tub.
Then put the jeans through a complete wash alone.
