DIY Conversation Hearts Chocolate

I am not a big fan of the conversation hearts candy as it tastes a bit chalky, so I thought I should make something similar and more tastier the regular conversation hearts. So I ended up making these DIY Conversation hearts chocolate. These are very simple to make, totally customizable(Add almonds or sprinkles) and can be personalized(any wordings of your choice). Let's see how.

Materials Used:

Heart mold

White chocolate

Food coloring/candy melts in colors of your choice

Edible color markers(I used Wilton)

Double boiler/pan & vessel

Spoon

Heat some water in a pan. once you see vapors, place the snuggly fitting vessel on top of the pan. Put the chocolate chunks and slowly stir them until it is completely melted. Remove from the heat and add the desired amount of food coloring or use two to three colored(Red/green/yellow) candy melts. I had some candy melts left in each color after making the Halloween hot chocolate spoons and holiday S'mores so I used that.

Scoop some chocolate in a spoon and fill up the heart mold. Bang on the counter to even out and burst air bubbles formed. Allow them to cool in the refrigerator.

Release the chocolate from the mold by pulling the corners away from the chocolate and popping out from the bottom. Let the chocolate be in the mold. Now is the fun part. Write the wordings using the edible color markers. I found it easy to write when the chocolate is in the mold. I had a paper near me to scribble in between the writings as the chocolate had some moisture which made the marker not write properly. I just used the normal conversation heart wordings but you can get creative and make a small story out of these heart chocolates.(For example Your first date, the place you met, time, date, inside jokes, etc). Allow them to dry for some time and you're done.

You made some awesome little heart chocolates and now the one last step is to pack them. I used my silhouette electronic cutting machine to make small Hershey's inspired cardstock containers which can hold up to six hearts. You can get the candy wrapper and wrap the individual hearts in them(as shown) and put it inside a container or just use small zip-lock pouches.It is up to you. You can grab the free cut file here.

These are perfect treats to make for school too. I used half of a baking bar(2 oz) for each color. And I got 12 hearts chocolate for each color. ( It depends on how much you fill the mold. I only filled just above 1/4th in each heart mold). If you wondering where the heart mold is from, it is from Ikea. Oh yes, it is the ice cubes tray which says "For Water only" ;)( Creative brains works that way, no judging please :P).

Instead of plain chocolate, you even make them as almonds filled hearts just like how I made almond candy bars. If you want more fun you can also add sprinkles instead of almonds for a sweet surprise. I hope you will give this a try and share what you think in the comments below.
