Supplies
- Gelatin
- Soap scent
- Three soap dye colors
- Soap molds
(Found at Hobby Lobby)⬆
- A couple toothpicks
- A small liquid measuring cup
Chopping Your First Piece of Gelatin
To start making your soap, prepare your space, so you are quickly able to move from the microwave to your soap molds. Cut a piece of gelatin large enough to fill 1/3 of your mold, remembering that when you microwave your gelatin there will be less than before.
Melting the Gelatin
Put your piece of gelatin in a liquid measuring cup, place it in the microwave, and set it to about 15 seconds. Once it has finished melting, quickly move so that you are next to your soap molds.
Pouring the Gelatin Into the Soap Molds
Next, pour the gelatin into the mold of your choice. DO NEXT STEP IMMEDIATELY AFTER!
Dripping the Soap Dye Into the Melted Gelatin
As quickly as you can, squeeze your first color bottle until at least 4 drops fall into the melted gelatin. Make sure you don't put similar colors close together, you won't be able to tell the difference. QUICKLY DO NEXT STEP!
Squeezing the Soap Scent Into the Colored Mixture
Quickly, take your soap scent and drip it a couple of times into the colored mixture.
Mixing It Together
Now, mix the soap mixture together. Wait at least 15 minutes for the soap to dry.
Cutting Your Second Piece of Gelatin
While your soap is drying, you may cut your next piece of gelatin. It has to be large enough so that there is only one third of the mold left.
Melting Your Second Piece of Gelatin
DO NOT do this step until the soap has been drying for at least 15 minutes! Now melt the second chunk of gelatin in the microwave for 15 seconds. Quickly pour it on top of the other layer of soap.
Drip the Dye Into the Second Layer of Gelatin
Drip at least four drops of your second color into the mixture. DO NEXT STEP QUICKLY!
Adding Scent to Your Second Layer
Next, add a few drops of scent into your second layer of gelatin.
Stirring the Second Layer of Soap
Once your soap scent and color has been dropped into the melted gelatin, very gently stir. DON'T STIR TOO DEEP OR IT WILL SEEP INTO THE FIRST LAYER. Allow the soap to sit for at least 20 minutes.
Cut Your Third Piece of Gelatin
While your second layer is drying, chop a large enough piece of gelatin so that it will fill up to the top of mold.
Melting the Third Layer of Gelatin
After you have waited 20 minutes for the second layer to dry, pour the melted gelatin on top of the second layer of soap. Be careful to not let it overflow! DO THE NEXT STEP!
Color the Last Layer of Gelatin
Now that you poured the melted gelatin into the mold, color it with a few drops of your third color. IMMEDIATELY DO NEXT STEP!
Scenting the Last Layer of Gelatin
Once you have added the dye, drop a few drips of soap scent into the last layer of melted gelatin.
The Final Step
Stir the last layer of soap mixture, while making sure to not touch the layer underneath. Let the whole mixture in the soap mold sit for an hour on a safe surface, or place it in the refrigerator for 45 minutes.
Enjoying Your Soap!
Once your soap has finished drying, set it on your sink or give it to a friend! Hope you enjoyed creating your soap, and hope you enjoy using it in the future!
