This project is one of the most fun projects I have ever done. While being easy to make, all the materials are common household items. Not to mention the thrill of catapulting an item into the air.

Supplies

  • Cardboard
  • Hot glue gun
  • String
  • 10 tongue depressors
  • Grape or something small and light
  • scissors or utility knife

Cutting

Cut two 6x1 inch rectangles. Aside from that cut one 8x1 inch rectangle. For the side triangle you will need to make two 6x6x8 triangles.

Making the Base

To make the base you want to glue the three rectangles in between the two triangles making and triangular pyramid.

Making Support

take four of your tongue depressors and glue a long rectangle as shown above. next take two tongue depressors

and glue an x pattern.

Adding Support

Glue the rectangle that you made to the bottom of the base and make half of it overlap in the front. Also on the bottom glue the the x we made to stabilize the structure.

Slingshot

poke a hole on each side of the base so that you can put your string through it later on. Get 4 tongue depressors and glue them in the same rectangle as we did before. take the middle of the rectangle and tie it to the top of the base. Then glue around the string making sure to keep the slingshot able to move up and down.

Finishing Touches

cut a 4x1 inch cardboard rectangle and bend it around the back to hold the grape. Put the grape in slap the top of the slingshot and watch it sore through the air.
