DIY Candle Holder With Wood & Copper Piping

This awesome little candle holder would make a great gift around Christmas time, or why not make a set for yourself to enjoy around the holidays. Using wood and copper, the design here is quite simple and elegant, and altogether it comes together quite easily.

Material:

• Wood of your choice, I used mahogany
• 3/4 inch copper piping
• Sandpaper
• Glue, I used wood glue
• Polyurethane or other finish

Tools

• Saw (hand saw, band saw or miter saw)
• Pipe cutter
• Drill
• 3/4 inch spade bit
  

Method:

Cut up two triangles. Mine measured about three inches on the long side and the angles were at 60 degrees, however you can make it anyway you want. Sand the wood, and then sand the copper piping. Measure 1 1/2 inches on the piping and cut it with a pipe cutter.

Mark the middle on of the triangles and cut a hole using the drill and the 3/4 inch spade bit. Turn the piece over half way through to avoid any tearout.

Attach the copper piping piece into the hole in the triangle, it should be a snug fit.

Glue the triangle with the attached pipe on top of the triangle, catty corner to produce a star. Let dry and give it a coat of polyurethane for protection.
