D.I.Y. Can Safe

IMG_1574 v2.jpg
This instructable will tell you how to make a safe disguised as a can. The "can" has a un-screwable bottom, which allows access to what is inside.

Materials

What you will need:

An empty can (opened from the bottom)
An empty milk carton
Super glue
A clamp
Sandpaper

Cutting the Milk Carton

Open the bottom of the can with a can opener and get rid of its contents. Clean it and dry it. Next, cut the top of the milk carton so that the circumference is slightly bigger than the can's. Throw away the bottom half (or recycle it).

Making It Able to Screw on and Off

Take the piece of the milk carton and press it in to the can (face up), just enough so that the top is level with the top of the can. The edge of the milk carton piece should "click in" to the grooves on the inside of the can. BE SURE THAT THE OPENING IS IN THE CENTER. It is important that it is in the center, because if it is not, it will not screw on properly. Sand the top of the milk carton's lid so that you have a rough surface to glue. Also sand the bottom part of the can (the part you used the can opener to take it off). Once that is done, put super glue on the rough side (top) of the milk carton cap. Place it upside down on the center of the bottom of the can. To keep it together and in the center put a clamp on it, for about 5 min.

Finishing

Once the glue is dry, you can screw it together so that it looks like a normal can again. It may need a little adjusting so that fits together okay. If you need to you can move the pieces a little until it fits. As soon as it fits, you're done! Congratulations!
