DIY CYCLONE NINJA THROWING STARS (SHURIKEN)

Hi everyone!

In this project, I’m gonna show you how to make A Cyclone Ninja Throwing Stars (SHURIKEN) from Popsicle Sticks without using Power Tools.

You can find all the materials at your local arts & crafts store.

You can find the template at the end of this Instructable!

Supplies

  • 5 Popsicle sticks
  • Ruler with centimeters
  • Ballpoint pen or pencil
  • Wood glue
  • Utility knife
  • Abrasive sandpaper (approximately 180 grit, 400 grit)
  • Paint brush
  • Acrylic colors (Black, and Silver)
  • Binder clips
  • Low Tack Masking Tape

Let's get started!

Marking and Cutting

Take 5 Popsicle sticks and mark the spots as shown with a

pencil, then cut the sticks along the pencil marks with a utility knife.

CAUTION! Using a sharp tool on a small object is problematic.

Building Two Boards

The first board: 3 long pieces of popsicle stick, 4 short

pieces of popsicle stick.

The second board: 4 longest pieces of popsicle stick, 4 small short pieces of popsicle stick.

Carefully glue each piece one at a time as shown using wood glue.

We will need 2 shuriken throwing stars images, each image was glued at the top of each board.

Let this sit to dry.

Cutting the Shape and Gluing

Cut two shapes out of two boards with a utility knife, glue them together using wood glue.

Slowly and carefully cut each bevel on edge shuriken with a utility knife.

Surface Finishing

Sand the throwing stars with sandpaper until everything is smooth and perfect.

Paint the Throwing Stars

Start by painting the entire throwing stars with black acrylic color using a paintbrush.

Mask off areas that should not be painted using low tack masking tape.

Paint blades with silver acrylic color.

Let it dry completely.

Complete!

Remove masking tape from the throwing stars.
