DIY Blind Stick

Their life is filled with risks. They can't move around freely and always require people to assist them. Why not make something for them? The blind stick. Yes! A visually impaired person can now walk independently. The smart blind stick is programmed to detect the obstacles in front of the person and send a warning in the form of a sound.

With this, the visually impaired person can be aware of the obstacles lying ahead of him.

Things Required

STARTER INVENTION KIT.jpg

1. Dream Kit

2. 3/4 inch diameter PVC pipe (used for making the stick or an umbrella)

3. Cardboard sheet

4. Chart Paper

5. Glue

6. A pair of scissors

How It Works

We all know that the Distance sensor (ultrasonic) gives the distance of the object in front of it. In this project, we are using a distance sensor to detect the obstacles at a certain distance which is fixed to the PVC pipe or the stick. Here, we are using a buzzer module to warn the blind person. We can also warn the blind person by using a vibrater which can be done by motor rotation.

1. First take the cardboard sheet and mark the following measurements as shown above.

2. Cut the cardboard outline and make the holes for the distance sensor to pop out, as shown above.

3. Take a chart paper and make the same outlines and cut it accordingly.

Place the Hub and the Modules As Shown Below.

Here, we will be using a zip tag to fix the circuit to the stick. In order to do this firstly make a hole to pass the zip tag through the cardboard as shown above.

Power the HUB using the battery after uploading the code.

Now use masking tape to fix the box after all the connections and programming is completed

Use chart paper and a sketch pen to draw on it and make it look cool :)

Awesome!!! You Have Created Your Blind Stick :)
