This wooden art, inspired by the iconic Dark Knight from the comic, is perfect for adding a superhero vibe to your space. With just a laser cutter, some plywood, and a splash of paint, you can create a stunning piece of art. Let’s dive in and make it happen!

Laser Cutting

Time to cut! Load your 3mm plywood(25*25cm) into the laser cutter and configure the settings in Lightburn. Since this project involves some line engraving, I recommend setting up the engraving settings first, then the cutting settings. Ensure your workspace is clear and the laser is focused.

Settings:

  1. Engraving: Speed: 5000mm/min, Power: 70%, Air Assist: Off
  2. Cutting: Speed: 450mm/min, Power: 85%,Air Assist: On

Once ready, let the laser cutter work its magic!

Once all layers are cut, use sandpaper to smooth the edges. Then, it’s time to add some color. Use acrylic paint to bring the Batman theme to life.Paint each layer carefully with a paintbrush or acrylic marker, ensuring clean edges. You can refer to this original Batman illustration from the comics.

Assembling

After the paint dries, assemble the layers in order, starting with the base layer. Apply wood glue sparingly between layers to secure them, aligning each piece precisely to maintain the design’s integrity. Once assembled, let them dry fully. Then, assemble the brackets as shown in the diagram and glue them in place on the back for support.

Enjoy Your Work!
