DIY Arm Cuff From an Old Pair of Jeans

Denim Arm Cuff from Old Jeans

I made this cute arm cuff from the leftover denim I had after I made this denim apron: It's so easy to make that even if you don't have access to a sewing machine, the few seams that need to be sewn can either be hand-stitched or glued. I would love to hear how your own arm cuff turned out! :)

Supplies

  • A piece of an old pair of jeans. The only piece you really need is approximately 10 inches of the waistband.
  • Snaps. I bought mine on Amazon here, but feel free to use different snaps, buttons, or connection of your choice.
  • Embellishments - i.e., lace, tiny flowers, beads, etc.
  • Basic sewing supplies, i.e., scissors, sewing machine (or needle and thread), seam ripper, etc.

Cut Right Into It

Cut away the waistline from the rest of the jeans. This is what will make the actual arm cuff, so make sure its is about ten inches in length!

Remove any belt loops. Now you have the main body of your cuff.

Sew the Ends

Measure the wrist of the intended wearer where the cuff will sit. Add two inches to that measurement. This is how long you need to cut the waistline to make the cuff.

Once the determined length is cut, fold both ends of the cuff under and sew to finish the raw edges.

Add Embellishments

Sew or glue on any embellishment of your choice, This will give your arm cuff a personalized look and show off your style. I used lace and a tiny little satin flower.

To sew on lace, place the lace along the cuff and fold the ends under the cuff to hide the raw edges from view. Then stitch on top of the lace.

NOTE *If at any time during this Instructable you are confused or need a more hands-on approach, scroll up the video at the top where I show how I made the arm cuff*

If you want a tiny flower like mine, hand sew (or glue) the flower onto the cuff.

Add the Snaps

Attach the snaps onto both ends of the cuff. Consider placing two snaps, side by side if you think the cuff might strain at just one.

Follow the manufacture's instructions to attach the snaps.

And that's it! I would love to hear how making your own arm cuff went!
