DIY 6 Volt Safe

2 025.jpg
In this instructable i will show you how to make a hidden safe out of a large 6 volt battery. I will also show you how to make it give power to a light, even though it is hollowed out. ( that way you can prove it's "not fake")

Parts

2 004.jpg
You will need:
Gloves, there will be acid in the battery
Tin Can
Pliers
Wire Strippers
Large 6 volt battery ( dead )
Soldering Iron
Solder
Copper Aligator clips ( 1$ for 10 )
9 volt battery
9 volt battery clip ( 1$ for 5 )
Metal Sheers
Tape ( scotch or electrical, electrical will be faster and stronger )
If you use scotch tape:
Black acrillic paint
Paintbrush or Sponge
Wire Stand ( or something to hold the wires in place )

Step 1: Cut

2 005.jpg
Begin by using the metal sheers to cut away the top of the battery, be careful for sharp edges and acid.

Step 2: Remove

2 010.jpg
Remove the battery contents by shaking it over a container, after emptied, rinse or wipe out the inside and the bottom of the cover.

Step 3: Tape

Tape the edges of the top and the bottom with the tape you have. If you use electrical tape, skip to step 5 ( or step 6 in the corner ).

Step 4: Paint

2 022.jpg
Time for childhood memories of mess and staying in the lines. Paint over the exposed tape in black, so it is the same as the top. wait for this to dry and continue.

Step 5: More Cutting

2 014.jpg
Cut a small strip of the tin can and bend it up, put this to the side.

Step 6: Soldering and Clipping

2 019.jpg
Take the battery clip, strip about 1cm off each wire, and twist these into the holes in the aligator clips. Solder the connections, and clip to the bottom posts of the cover. ( negative to negative, positive to positivee ). This is what will make the battery look real and light the light bulb! Now clip in the 9 volt battery.

Step 7: Tape

2 020.jpg
Now take the tin can, tape the part you cut to the top of the battery, and tape the 9 volt to the side.

Step 8: Install

2 025.jpg
Now put the whole assembly into the battery housing, and put in the top level with the sides.
Now you can hide valuables and money in your "safe". You can clip alligator clops to the battery terminals, and it will light up a small light!

This is NOT meant to be a super secret safe. To the casual observer it will look normal, but it is not the most secret, so don't post comments saying it doesn't look real, it is meant to be quick and somewhat effective. If you want a good , check my casset player safe instructable, and the modifycation instructable for that safe.
