DIY 3D Printed Bubble Blower Machine at Home

Hello friends, Christmas is around the corner and ahead of that new year, In short, this holiday season is full of fun, and most end with parties! How about making a 3D printed bubble blower machine at home?

Yeah, That is a fantastic idea I would say because building this is one part, and using this is another level of fun.

In this instructable, I will show you how I made this 3d printed bubble blowing machine.

The special feature here is you have the option to control the generation rate of bubbles, This has rechargeable high capacity batteries that will keep the fun going, whether it is a garden party or an indoor party this fits in everything.

I also attached STL files that I made with Tinkercad, a Detailed explanation of the circuit and step by step build instructions, So what are you waiting for? Gather the materials to get started.

Micro servo (make it continuous rotation using below step)

3 Lithium ion batteries

Battery holder (1x 2AAA type and 1 single holder)

DC Motor speed controller

DC Fan

3D Printer

PLA filament(color of your choice)

This step is optional if you already have a continuous rotation servo.

The servo that you use in most of the robotic projects are 180 degrees locked it means the servo can move its shaft to only 180 degrees.

In this project we need 360 degree rotation servo, I already had many servos, so i will modify it to a continuous rotation servo and also show you the same.

To begin with unscrew the screws at the back of the servo, there will be 2 servos.

Now we have 3 parts here, the top part(gears), Moddle part(frame) and the base (motor and controller)

Open the gearbox and take out the top gear, underneath you will see a small bump, this is responsible for that 180-degree rotation.

Trim this bump, you can use a wire cutter and put the gears back to the servo body.

Open the base and remove the wires and small controller, Now solder the wires to the dc motor base.

After the modification, we will have only 2 wires for servo connection instead of 3.

This servo now is ready for the project.

The design for this bubble blower body and wheel was made with Tinkercad

If you want to make a design for your upcoming projects with 3d printing I recommend getting started with this since it is very easy to use.

The body part also has an inbuilt liquid container and it is leakproof so there is no need to worry about any leakages.

A bubble wheel is nothing but just a circle with inner holes and a slot in the center to attach a screw.

You can download my designs below and export them to slicing software, I used Cura and I have added photos of the setting that I used at the time of slicing.

Note that use an infill rate of more than 40% when you slice.

I used a combination of colors to print the model, First i printed the lower part with orange color filament.

When the print reached 50% I paused the printer and replaced it with a blue filament and resumed the print process.

This way I got a multicolor print, Now the wheel was printed with white since this color matches with the other part.

You can use the color of your choice anyway the colors have no impact on performance but definitely for the first impressions it matters!

The circuit has two parts

First is the servo circuit

Servo has 2 wires and this wire is directly connected to the speed controller board.

The battery(single aaa battery) is then connected to the holder and its terminals are connected to this speed control board power input slot

Second is the DC fan circuit

Here I will be using 2 batteries connected to the battery holder and a switch.

This is then connected to the DC fan directly, This part doesn't need any speed control as we need the fan to work at its maximum capacity to blow the air.

The choice of DC fan is because they are known to work for a very very long run.

Finish this step by adding wheel to the servo shaft, all you need is a small screw and you can find it in the servo horn cover(usually they provide spare screws)

Working

To use this machine, follow these simple steps.

I used dishwash liquid as a bubble making liquid, Alternatively, you can use shampoo for every 100ml of water mix 5 to 10ml of shampoo, mix it well on a bottle, and pour it into the collecting tray on the machine.

Turn on the bubble wheel servo and keep the speed to a minimum and wait for a few seconds.

Now turn on the DC fan that blows air to the bubble wheel, Here you have to take care of the wind, if the air blows in the opposite direction of the DC fan air flow changes the direction of the machine.

The rate of bubbles can be increased or decreased by changing the speed of the wheel, Just turn the knob of the speed controller and you are good to go.
