DIWire Table
The DIWire is a very useful CNC wire bending machine, which utilizes different applications for 2D and 3D objects. Using the machine for various projects, I grew increasingly frustrated with how I had to watch each bend so closely. I wanted to start a bend and walk away to do other work, and then come back and have the bend finished. After a few prototypes and many ideas, i found a conclusion to this problem: build a table so that the wire bender sits flush with no edge for the bend to get caught on. Plus you get a nice surface to work on with the wire bender. Enjoy!
Im a senior at Riverpoint Academy. We have access to high quality equipment like CNC machines, 3D Printers, and Laser Cutters. This project came from my desire to improve my DIWire workflow.
Materials
You will need:
1. CNC Router Table with ½” compression bit
2. 4’ x 8’ x ½” piece of plywood
3. 3/4” Screws and drill
4. Rubber Mallet
Cut the Table
A. Download DI Wire Table DXF file
B. Upload file onto CNC software. We’re using VCarve.
C. Apply Fillets (Dog Bone and T-Bone) to all corners. This makes it so the bit can reach into all of the corners and still have everything fit together.

D. Now it’s ready to cut!
Assembling Table
A. Begin with the leg pieces and the center shelf that the DI Wire sits on.
B. Use the rubber mallet to hammer on one side of the leg to the bottom.
C. Before putting the other side of the leg on, install the corner brace. The smaller holes on the bottom of the legs are for the corner braces.
D. Once the corner brace is installed, use the mallet to tap on the other side of the leg. This will connect it all together and produce a finished leg.
E. Once one is done, go around and complete the other 3 legs. You will have a partially completed table that looks like this.
F. Now that assembly is done, all that’s left is to attach the top. The holes on the table top should fit perfectly over the tenons left on the top of the table legs. Hammer it in with the rubber mallet.
G. Once the tabletop is attached, screw it together. To start this, use a countersink bit to drill a hole where any of the pieces attach to each other. Then drive all of the screws into the holes.
H. You now have a completed DI Wire Table. Drop the machine through the hole and you are ready for action. Enjoy!
