"The D3-K droid series was created as planetary reconnaissance droids during the Republic era. These droids, usually working in large numbers, were used to explore and survey remote planets. Their meshing function meant that many of these droids could chain their data sensor arrays to quickly and accurately map entire planets. Paired with sturdy construction and a high-capacity energy cell these droids made great explorers.

The D3-K series needed to be curious to encourage thorough exploration; however, many D3-K droids would wander off protocol to explore local flora and fauna. It was almost guaranteed that after several missions, a D3-K droid would not return from a planetary survey.

At the onset of the Clone Wars, the D3-K series was retired. The inefficiently curious nature of the droids, along with the general distrust of droids during the war, led to large numbers being retired and put in storage. Later, the Rebel forces would recover and repurpose these droids; their sturdy construction and excellent scanning and communication capabilities proved to be an asset to the Rebel cause."

It was an absolute pleasure to create my own droid for the Star Wars universe. I grew up watching the prequel trilogy on repeat, and since the age of 9, I have always wanted to have my own droid. I knew instantly that I wanted to incorporate the red and white design language of the Republic era while creating something that was both inquisitive and sturdy.

And of course, I had to build this myself. As an amateur prop builder, I jumped at the opportunity to turn my 3D designs into reality!
