D1-G6

Meet D1-G6. This versatile droid is perfect for scavenging machinery from long-forgotten salvage, tilling the ground to make light work of planting season, and even mining for rare valuables. Their compact rest state makes them easy to transport and protects your investment during sandstorms or mining accidents as well as insurrectionists. The best the Galactic Empire has to offer.

This droid was created using Autodesk Maya, largely with a box modeling subd workflow. I also utilized some of the incredible tools within Maya such as the sweep mesh and quad draw. Maya's uv unwrap tools made the process of laying out uv tiles a breeze.

I wanted this droid to have a clear purpose and develop its form around practical design. It needed to have the power to move and operate efficiently. It needed a strong shell to ensure a long working life, and a simple aerodynamic shape to stay intact during sandstorms. I did my research on many of the droids across the spectrum of content to ensure continuity in design language and inspirations.

Overall I am pleased with the outcome and hope you enjoy D1-G6

A big thank you to Autodesk and Disney for the opportunity to submit, and best of luck to everyone else who has submitted.

All the best,

-Bryan
