Cyberpunk : Edgerunners Costume

hey there folks ! 👋

Netflix released an original anime series back in September 2022.

the name of show is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. It is an Absolute masterpiece , with an amazing soundtrack , non stop action, and a Storyline that grips you.

What caught my attention,was David's ( the main character ) outfit. Flashy yet functional. A yellow jacket with cool stripes along with jogger’s.

This instructable is for all cyberpunk: edge runners fans out there.. as well as for cosplay enthusiasts...!!

Here we go!

to begin with, you can find cheap yellow jackets on online stores. I just couldn’t wait so I bought a raincoat from my local shop to work upon. For starters, I drew a midline on front , and cut it with a blade from top to bottom . Now the closed raincoat can flapped open to right and left sides. Woila! the raincoat is one step closer to costume.

for Drawing lines, I used a reference pic from cyberpunk : edgerunners official Twitter page. I have uploaded the image.

1. In the front of jacket, there are 3 white stripes : upper, middle & lower stripes.
2. The upper stipe at shoulder level , middle stripe at below chest level and last lower stripe at hip level.
3. it may seem a bit tricky at once, but once you figure it out, it’s actually simple to do.
4. lets start by marking the 2 points each vertically at 3 stripe areas on one side of jacket.
5. each 2 points must be vertical to each other, with distance between them equal to the width of stripes.

once they are done, you will get an idea of where these stripes are to be drawn.

if you look closely in the diagram, only the middle stripe is truly horizontal along below chest level. The upper and lower stripes are in a zig zag kind of pattern.

For drawing these two, try to follow the diagram and following description:

1. Upper stripe has two terminals piece, one part at collar & other piece above chest level. There is a middle piece which connect these two terminal pieces.
2. lower stripe has two terminals pieces, one at naval level & other at hip level. There is a middle piece which connects these two terminal pieces.

draw all stripes on one side of the jacket. then do the same at the other side aligning accordingly.

The collar colour is cyan blue. So I have painted that using acrylic colours. The Outer edges are black in colour.

Any plain black tshirt is fine.

Mine had White stripes on Front side of tshirt. So I have to coat it with a layer of black paint. Just to make as identical to original costume.

This metal glove is quite tricky. It has 7 parts :

1. thumb finger - 2 metal parts
2. index finger - 3 metal parts
3. middle finger - 3 metal parts
4. ring finger - 3 metal parts
5. pinky finger/ small finger - 3 metal parts
6. knuckle band - dark painted portion with knuckles painted lighter grey.
7. body of upper palm has 2 sections :

a) large trapezium like section adjacent to knuckles , it has 2 prominence just below the space between index finger and middle finger. As well as between ring finger and pinky finger.

b) smaller trapezium like section lower to large piece.

Draw an outline with any pen/pencil.

For starters,

1. Place your lower palm onto the thermocol sheet facing towards you.
2. place your hands steady.
3. Start by tracing along your thumb finger ,index finger, middle finger, ring finger and finally the pinky finger.

Once you have traced an outline of your hand... Do the same for your other hand.

Paint the inner parts with acrylic colours.

since there was a Nike sign, I painted black over it.

I painted the belt yellow.

A bit more stuffs will be added soon to make it more cyber punky.
