Experiment on cutting and engraving an inscription on a mirror with a diode laser (Endurance 10 Watt DPSS Laser Nd: YAG, 1064 nm, F = 25mm).

A task:
Cut off a part of the mirror of the required size with a laser, then apply an inscription on the opaque side.

From a large piece of mirror 4 mm thick. and a width of 130 mm. cut off a part with a length of 80mm. Thus, we get a plate of 4 * 80 * 130 mm. The mirror is placed face up. Cutting is carried out on an Endurance 10 Watt DPSS Laser (description on the website https://endurancelasers.com/laser-engravers-and-cutters/) The software used is LightBurn 0.9.15. Cutting is performed in the following mode: speed - 20mm / second, power 99%, number of passes - 1. The focal point should coincide with the lower (opaque) surface of the mirror or be slightly higher. The cutting image is a regular straight line drawn in the program itself.

After obtaining a cut of the mirror of the desired size, turn the workpiece over with the opaque side up. In the LightBurn program, open a previously prepared inscription in jpeg or png format (the inscription must be flipped horizontally). The focus of the laser is directed to the opaque surface of the mirror (our task is to burn out the coating in the specified areas with the laser). Next, we set the required size of the inscription. We set the engraving parameters - speed 900 mm / second, power - 50%, number of passes - 1, interval - 0.05 mm. Processing in this mode allows you to remove the opaque layer of the mirror without damaging the glass itself (By the way, if you are interested - on the website https://endurancelasers.com/how-to-make-a-beautiful-laser-engraving-on-acrylic-and- glass / can be found processing other materials). After installing the workpiece and setting the parameters, we launch the laser. In our case, the engraving took about 15 minutes. After processing, it is necessary to remove carbon deposits from the surface with a napkin and alcohol.
