Hi friends,
I want to share how to sew a beautiful Handmade Doll by your own hands. This Cute Textile Doll in the style of Tilda can be wonderful gift for adults to decorate a warm home interior or be a part of collection.

I love winter! Holidays and Ski season what can be better)) I was inspired by colors, so I choose purple hair and winter style for my doll. A perfect name for our girl...Ivy :)

Transfer all details on fabric. Fold the fabric face to face and pin it.

Stitch on the sewing machine. Leave holes for turning with right side up and stuffing.

Do not cut first the details, start with sewing all elements and then cut

Stuffing

IMG_5293.jpg

Fill tightly, especially the legs and neck. It is very convenient to use a wooden stick or tweezers. But with tweezers you need to be careful not to damage the fabric. Use to stuff small amount of Fiberfill (holofiber), and even it’s harder to stuff, the effect is much more aesthetic.

The Legs

Insert the needle into the button, then into the first leg, pierce through the body, then the second leg and then the second button. Turn around and go back. Tie the ends of the threads strongly. Repeat the procedure, if you had buttons with 4 holes.

Cut Out the Details for Dress and Shorts

For the sleeves, there is no point in making a pattern. Simply measure the length of doll hand and the volume in the widest part, fold fabric in half and draw a rectangle on one side. On top of the rectangle draw a semicircle.

Sewing Shorts

Hem the top and bottom edge.

Sew the crotch seam. Turn out one leg and put it inside other with right sides together and finish sewing.

Dress the pants, adjust and pin them. Then sew by hand, to fit the doll.

Petticoat

I use tulle frill in 3 layers for Petticoat, actually the size was enough for under dress with collar. Take measurements direct on your doll, cut and sew on rear side.

The Dress

Sew the dress yoke on 3 sides (Top and laterals), turn with right side out and adjust.

Take the long strip for skirt, and sew on bottom the decorative cotton lace. Now make frills on skirt. You can do it by hand, using simple stitch, or with sewing machine. Set upper thread tension at 0 and after pull gently the bottom thread to form the frills. Adjust the size you need and pin the skirt with yoke, after sew them together.

The dress is ready.

Pin the vest to the dress and fix it with a few stitches.

Pin the Hands in Symmetric Position and Sew Them. Work From Inside.

Hairstyle

Wrap the doll in cling film, leave only the head.

First make a roll of tresses about 1 cm diameter. The doll's head has 2 seams on sides. Start gluing from seam to seam, about 3-4 layers. Then go all around until will remaining the crown (vertex). Glue here the hair roll.

Part the hair on top. Take a few layers of paper, and iron for 2-3 seconds.

I chose a curly doll hair, so it's look like an explosion)) But don't worry! I arranged curl by curl and tied up with cotton lace.

The Last One

It remains to draw the eyes. You can draw 2 dots with black acrylic paint, or use Fabric Marker (I use 2 black pins and Super Glue).

Blush the cheeks, put on a headband and our little doll is ready!

LET’S TAKE SOME PRETTY PICTURES!
