Cute Pom- Pom Rug

This is a super fun way to decorate your house that's soft and plush, but also cute. Along with the instructions I have tips that help a lot when making these. Just thought I would warn you, this project can be very lengthy, so choose a good weekend to do it on. Have Fun!

Supplies

For this pom- pom rug you don't need a lot:

  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive Shelf Liner
  • Ruler

Step 1: Measure the Rug

You need to think how big you want this, remember as I said earlier this is a lengthy project.

Step 2: Choose Your Colors

What colors do you want? You get to choose! This is a great way to use excess yarn from other yarn projects.

Step 3: Making the Pom Pom's

To make a pom pom you wrap the yarn around your fingers, I would do about 50 times around. The less times around, the less fuller the pom pom is. After you do that then you want to tie a string between your fingers, make sure it's tight! Then you trim the loops to your perfection. You can run your scissors through them to see if you missed any loops. You have to make a lot for a rug so after you make a couple lay them out against the rug to see how you like them. Play around with them until they're positioned how you want them.

Step 4: Tying Them Down

Get the two tails from the pom pom and put them through the rug base where you want them. Tie them together through the bottom, it doesn't really matter the type of knot but I just double knot them. After you do that then you want to trim them so they don't stick out.

Step 5: Add More!

Add more to your pom pom rug until you cover the whole rug, if you have more yarn left then you can look back through and check to see if there are any big gaps or holes where it's a little bare and add some more.

Enjoy!

You can hang it on the wall, put it on furniture, or just enjoy it as a rug. I hope you like this tutorial and make more!
