Cut Metal With a Tile Saw

I can't believe I'm the only one to do this but I haven't seen it anywhere. My cheapo, one-job tile saw was setting around. I put a fiberglass - reinforced cutoff wheel on it (mine was a 7-inch dia, 2 mm thick, 5/8 inch arbor) and started cutting. Cuts a 1/4 inch rod in seconds. I needed piece of steel 3/8 inch by 3/4 inch but had on hand a 3/8 inch by 2 inch. I "ripped" the needed piece from the larger piece. A 10 inch long cut. It took right at ten minutes. A lot faster than I thought it would be. I measured the wheel before and after and found I had lost about 1/4 inch on the wheel radius. Much less than I had guessed.
