Custom Keychain

I have created a really cool keychain based off of my favorite specialty plate. This doesn't have to be a license plate, obviously, but it should be. This requires several expensive materials such as a vinyl printer, and laser engraver, which I had access to because of school. This also requires some drawing application or editing application.

Supplies

Okay so I utilized different machines, but these are the closest things I could find to what I actually used. I used a very expensive decal printer, but a cricket machine should work fine, and the laser engraver is only necessary to carve the shape of the keychain, so any plastic with a keyring should work fine. Most important you'll need a piece of art, much like the one I had drawn. (I did trace a missouri st louis zoo license plate but you can draw anything)

DRAW!

As I stated before, the first thing you'll want to do is find a piece of artwork you want to be chained to your keys. Or make one. Then upload it as a .ai file for the best results.

Carve or Find Keychain Base

I used a laser engraver to create my shape, but regardless of what you do I would recommend doing this before printing your design. You can find templates for the keychain, or as I did, engrave it with a laser engraver to get a specific shape. Make sure you are aware of what you are using as to not burn your plastic, as pictured here.

MEASURE!

Measure twice, cut once. Make sure your keychain piece is measured so you know how big to print your artwork.

Print the Sticker

Upload the sticker to whatever program you will use to print it. Regardless of what you use make sure you know how big it is being printed so it can fit on your keychain.

Attach Sticker to Keychain

Peel the back off of the sticker and attach it with great caution to the keychain. I mean, you can print it again, but if you're careful, you won't have to. Make sure there are no air bubbles or loose edges. And you should have yourself a new keychain!
