Custom Bed Frame
Having a typical metal bed frame with wheels, I always felt that the bed was weak and wobbly. I used Sketchup to put together my idea and added dimensions to it.
Cutting and Painting
Using my design, I bought 15 straight, clear 2x4 pine and one 4x4 pine boards and cut them to my dimensions. I then got a quart of "whoops" paint at Lowes for $2.50 and painted all but the bottom structure.
Assembly
Using 2.5" interior wood screws (I used "zip" screws), I assembled the bed.
Final
After assembly and putting the box spring and mattress back in place I found the bed to be very solid and comfortable. I designed it with a ledge 7.5" up from the floor to make it easy to put my feet when lacing my shoes. I'm very satisfied with the design.
