Curtain Clips

This is a spur-of-the-moment idea I had when visiting my mother's place. I know that there are instructables about the creative use of paper clamps, but I do not think that I have seen this variation before - if so please let me know.

So, basically, this is about draping a curtain in a way that makes it look more appealing or, for lack of a less pompous word, regal. I did my best to make this one as simple as possibly, which does not say much given that the whole process is quite simple to begin with.

Oh, I feel I should ask you to forgive my strong inclination towards cheap wordplays...

What You Need

To make this basic recipe, you need:

- a curtain, preferrably of thin fabric, but depending on the size of clamp you are using, something heavier might work, too
- a paper clamp

Get a Grip

Now, stand in front of the curtain, aget a grip of yourself and than of the curtain, about 2/3 downwards. You will have plenty of time to redo this step in case you later notice that gripping higher or lower would have worked besser.

You should grip the center of the curtain, and take about half the material between your fingertips. It sounds more complicated than it is. At least I hope so.

Raise the Stakes

Now, raise the hand holding the curtain, straight up, along the vertical axis of the curtain, if that helps. You know what I mean. Again, the amount of raising you do is subject to personal taste and experimentation.

Pinch It!

Hold the curtain as described, take the clamp with your other hand and use it to clamp the curtain in place. Make sure to catch both layers of fabric - the "original" and the one held up - with the clamp, but spare your fingers. Once again, you might have to repeat the process to make sure the clamp is not too obvious, but unless the curtain is see-through, that should not be as big an issue.

Enjoy!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy your curtain's new look!

As a slight warning, I do not know whether there are clamps out there that might damage a curtain or give of color. If you are uncertain, try them somewhere not obvious, or put some masking tape or paper arround the clamp before feeding it some curtain.
