Cupcake Pin Cushion

With all my sewing it seemed appropriate to make a pin cushion. I had always seen cute pin cushions that looked like a cupcake and I decided I wanted to try to make my own.

Here is what I used to make my cupcake pin cushion.

I started by cutting out the pieces I needed to make the pin cushion. I needed 3 strips of each color.

To get the cupcake top shape I cut the strips at a bit of an angle on one side. One side of the strip measured about 1" and the other about 1 3/4".

Roll Pieces

After I cutting the pieces I placed all the pieces in a pile and then rolled the fabric into the cupcake shape.

Add the Cupcake Sleeve

I next made the cupcake sleeve to hold the cupcake together.

I started by cutting out a 1" strip of fabric from some of my felt. I sewed the ends of the strip together and slipped it around the cupcake.

Hand Stitch Outer Piece to Cupcake

To keep everything secure I hand stitched the gray outside piece to blue and purple cupcake part on the bottom of the cupcake.

This bottom stitch kept everything together so nothing will fall apart afterward.

And with the last stitching I was done and had an awesome new cupcake pin cushion for my pins!

Enjoy!
