Cup and Ball
This activity is for children making their own game and handicraft by using recycled materials. The purpose of the Cup-and-ball game is to flip the ball into the air and catch it in the cup. It is a diverting activity that develop children hand-eye skills. Adults can guide children to think about how to adjust the difficulty of the game, for example by changing the length of the string or the size of the cup and ball. Furthermore, children can decorate the cup and ball to make their unique and beautiful materpiece. It is expected to enhance children’s creativity and awareness of environmental protection, and build a creative and environmentally friendly habit.
Supplies
- 1 toilet paper roll
- 2 plastic bottle screw caps
- 1 string (e.g. yarn or twine, around 50cm long)
- a pair of scissors
- a roll of tape / masking tape
- some crayons / coloured pencils
Fold the paper tube at one end and stick the tape on it.
Draw on the paper tube with crayons or coloured pencils.
Stick the yarn on the paper tube.
Stick the yarn on the plastic cap, cover it with another plastic cap, and seal them with tape.
Decorate the plastic caps.
Hold the paper tube, flip the ball into the air and catch it in the paper tube. Have fun!
