Crunchy Caramel Apple Pie

Hi! My name is Luke and this is my first Instructable. Today I'm going to be sharing my aunt's unique apple pie recipe.
Supplies
Ingredients
For the pie
1/2 cup sugar
3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp. salt
6 cups thinly sliced and peeled cooking apples
a recipe for a crumb topping (I included a recipe but it is up to you if you want to use a different recipe)
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1/4 cup caramel ice cream topping
For the crumb topping
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup cold butter
Tools
rolling pin
9-inch pie plate
large mixing bowl
medium-sized bowl
pastry cutter
foil
Combine Dry Ingredients

First preheat oven to 385F
In a large bowl, stir together sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt with a whisk until finely mixed.
Combine the Dry Ingredient Mix With Apple Slices

Add the six cups of apple slices to the dry ingredient mix and gently toss until coated. Transfer the coated apple slices to the pie crust.
Making the Crumb Topping

Combine the flour and sugar in the medium sized bowl. Cut butter into fourths and add in. If you don't have a pastry cutter, cut the butter into very small chunks. If you do have a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the flour-sugar mixture.
Add the Crumb Topping

After the crumb topping is combined, gently pour over the sliced apples in the pie crust.
Baking the Pie

Take a length of foil and cover the edges of the crust of the pie. Put the pie into the oven and bake for 25 minutes. Take the pie out and remove the foil, then bake for an additional 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden.
Finishing Touches
Optional: after the pie is done baking add a drizzle of caramel over the top and sprinkle with pecans. Enjoy!
