Crumple Bleach Tie Dye
Learn how to bleach tie dye (or reverse tie dye). It’s a super quick and easy way to give new life to old colored shirts. You use bleach to create a unique reverse tie dye effect that transforms an old shirt. This specific one is to make a crumple bleach tie dye design.
Bleach tie dye is a unique way to make tie dye shirts through upcycling.
Supplies
- 1 Old Colored Shirt
- Water
- Bleach
- Rubber Bands
- Gloves
Crumple the Shirt
Soak the shirt in water. Then use your hands to scrunch and crumple the shirt.
Tie It
Use rubber bands to wrap it all. You want to make sure the shirt is completely secure.
Mix and Pour the Bleach
Mix together water and bleach. I used 1 part bleach to 3 parts water (so 1 cup of bleach and 3 cups of water) - you likely won't need to use all of it.
Make sure you put on gloves.
Then place the shirt into a bucket or tub. Then pour the bleach mixture over the shirt. Flip it over as necessary.
Let It Soak
Let the bleach mixture soak in - you'll likely see the colors change in just a few minutes. You don't want to leave it soaking for more then 15ish minutes or the bleach will start to eat away at the shirt.
Rinse it thoroughly in water and then run it through the washing machine and dryer. Then your bleach tie dye shirt is ready to wear! You can see all of my different bleach tie dye and reverse tie dye patterns here.
