Each drawing below is authored by its viewers, and consists of a simple set of Instructions to follow while making the drawing. You can browse through the drawings as they exist, but after you see a few you'll be asked to contribute. You just need to add some lines right on top of the drawing you see. Save, and continue. No login, no signup, no download. Just draw.

The Project is based loosely on Sol LeWitt's Wall Drawings. LeWitt authored "instruction sets" for drawings which were executed by others. Since the instruction sets needed to provide enough information to constrain the drawings with no other information, they serve as an important precedent for many of the modern "creative coding" projects today. Draw a continuous loop that increases density as it moves towards the right side of the screen.


Scribble inside the square defined by the four '+' symbols for at least ten seconds, keep moving as fast as possible as you scribble.


Draw non-overlapping squares whose edges are not parallel to the edges of the canvas, each ranging in size from approximately 3mm to 10mm. Draw them as close to the left edge of the canvas as possible without allowing any intersections.


Trace.


Trace the square as precisely as possible.


Draw a circle that meets two other circles tangently, but is not inside any other circles.

This experiment is powered by PaperJS, MongoDB (running @MongoLab), Backbone, and a teensy bit of PHP.
