Hi friends!

I want to share with you how to sew Cross Back Apron from Tablecloth. Maybe you have a tablecloth that didn't fit your table or one which is not in perfect condition but you are still keeping it, Now its time to reuse it and sew a simple and stylish apron. Cross Back version is fast to slip over your head and it will nicely drape.

Sure it will become your favorite apron model!

Supplies

  • Tablecloth or Fabric 80x60 cm
  • Cotton webbing 1.2 m
  • Iron-on sticker
  • Sewing Machine
  • Pins
  • Scissors
  • Iron

We will make an apron for size S-M.

Do not cut the hem at one side, use it as finished bottom side. Cut out:

  • a rectangle with 80 cm / 32" height and 60 cm / 24" width
  • 2 strips by 60 cm / 24"

Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, pin together to secure the fabric from slipping. Draw a curved line (like 1/4 oval shape) and cut out accurately.

Iron the Edges

Fold a thin hem along the edge, over to the wrong side, and then fold it again so no raw edges will show. Make several cuts on the curved side to release the tension otherwise, it will be difficult to fold the fabric. Iron-on and pin it.

Sew With a Straight Stitch Around the Top and Sides

Straps

First, fix the straps to the top. Sew forwards and backward 2 times to secure it.

Now twist the strap and pin it to the opposite side, that will be under the arm. Measure your apron, the straps should be aligned correctly. Check and sew the straps into position.

Pockets

I use a table-napkin for pockets.
Cut out 35cm x 20cm rectangle. You can cheat again and keep the finished hem, but if you have the raw edges fold them and iron on. Find a good position for pocket, pin it an sew the bottom and sides. Leave one big pocket or split it into 2 by stitching throughout the middle.

Iron-on Sticker

Place the sticker in place and cover it with a piece of fabric. Iron over for 15-20 seconds without steam and then let it completely cool down.

Done! It Looked Pretty Easy, Didn't It?)
