Crock-Pot Lit'l Smokies
This recipe is so complex that only just about everyone can do it! It has just three ingredients that simply need mixed and heated before serving. How simply divine is that? Simple and delicious?! Sign me up!
Ingredients - All 3 of Them
1 can Chili Sauce
8 oz Grape Jelly
1 package (14oz) Lit'l Smokies
I needed (okay, I really just wanted) to make a large batch of Lit'l Smokies for our New Year's Eve party with friends. I decided to triple the recipe. Here is where the complicated math comes into play. You decide how many batches you want to make and then grab a bottle/package for each batch you want to make. It is simply as hard as that!
Chili Sauce
Plug in your glorious creation, called a Crock-Pot. Then add some Chili Sauce; one bottle for each bag of Lit'l Smokies that you plan to make. I used 3 bottles.
Grape Jelly
Next you add 8 oz of grape jelly for each bag of Lit'l Smokies. I decided to buy a 30 oz jar of jelly since it was cheaper, so I simply winged it adding a little over 3/4 of the jar to the Crock-Pot. You can add more or less jelly to taste. Adding more jelly makes the mixture a little sweeter. Stir the chili sauce and grape jelly together.
Lit'l Smokies
Finally add the Lit'l Smokies and mix them into the mixture. Turn on the heat and wait for two hours or so until they are heated all the way through. Note: it will take less time with less packages. I always make 2+ batches of these since they get eaten so quickly. If, IF, you have any leftovers, they reheat well. So never fear making too many!
Serve!
Now to serve and Enjoy!! I simply place the Crock-Pot out on the counter or buffet and allow everyone to serve themselves. It is also a nice touch to supply some toothpicks for cleaner eating, but I promise that they are finger licking good.
