Crocheted Dress for 13 Inch Dolls

This instructable is for a dress for 13 inch dolls. This is not my pattern, and it was orginally made by Darice Incorporated.

Abbreviations:

ch- chain

dc- double crochet

rd- round

sc- single crochet

tr- triple crochet

st. stitch

sl. slip

G Crochet Hook

13 inch doll

2 skeins of 4 ply yarn (I used a light yellow)

Baby yarn for trim (I used white)

2 1/2 yards of ribbon (I used light yellow)

Chain 31

Row 1: 1 dc. in 3 rd. ch. from hook * 1 dc. in next ch. 2 dc. in next ch. repeat from * ch. 2 turn (43 dc.)

Row 2: 1/2 dc. in each dc. ch. 2 turn

Row 3: 1/2 dc. in next 7, skip 9, 1/2 dc. in next 11, skip 9, 1/2 dc. in next 7, ch. 2, turn (these are the sleeves)

Row 4: 1/2 dc. in each 1/2 dc. ch. 3 turn (25 1/2 dc.)

Row 5: 1 tr. in each 1/2 dc. ch. 1 turn

Row 6: 1 sc. in each tr. ch. 3 turn (25 sc.)

Row 7: 2 tr. in same st. - 3 tr. in each sc. ch. 2 and turn (75 tr.)

Row 8: 1 dc. in same st. * 1 dc. in next tr. 2 dc. in next tr. * repeat from * join (114 dc.)

Row 9-21: 1 dc. in each dc. (114 dc.) in each row join

Row 22: 1 sc. in each dc. join and break off

Holding open end of dress towards you, join yarn to top of last row of dc. * skip 3 dc. make shell between 3rd and 4th. dc. shells - 5 dc. with chain 1 between each dc. skip 3 dc. and sc. between the 6th and 7th dc. * repeat from * join. 2nd ruffle and the next 3 ruffles are made the same. Skip 2 rows of dc. make ruffle on top of 2nd row.

You can make as many ruffles as you want. The original pattern has 6 ruffles, but I only have 1.

Chain 6 and join

Row 1: ch. 1 - 11 sc. in ring and join

Row 2: ch. 3 - * dc. in next sc. ch. 1 * repeat from * join

Row 3: ch. 1 - 1 sc. in same st. * ch. 1 - 2 sc. in next dc. * repeat from * join

Row 4: ch. 3 - 1 dc. in same st. * ch. 1 - 2 dc. in center of 2 sc. * repeat from * join

Row 5: ch. 1 - 1 sc. in same st. * ch. 2 - 2 sc. in center of 2 dc. * repeat from * join

Row 6: ch. 3 - dc. in same st. * ch. 2 - 2 dc. in center of 2 sc. * repeat from * join

Row 7: repeat row 5

Row 8: repeat row 6

Row 9: (shells) sl. st. to chain 2 space make shell in between the 2 dc. (shell ch. 1 - 1 dc. - 2 tr. - 1 dc. - ch. 1) sc. in chain 2 space 12 shells in all. Trim- sc. over shells and ch. 1. Weave ribbon in and out of row 8, tie bow in back of hat.

Chain 6 and join

Row 1: ch. 3 - 14 dc. in ring and join

Row 2: ch. 2 * 1 sc. in dc. - 2 sc. in next dc. * repeat from * join. Repeat steps to make 2 circles

Row 3: 2nd circle is joined to first one with sc. For opening, skip 7 sc. on one circle and sc. the other, join. Chain 20 for purse handle and join to other side of opening.

Edging - join yarn * ch. 3 join in first ch. sc. in next sc. * join

sc. around each ruffle. 2 rows of sc. around each arm hole. sc. around neck line and both sides of opening in back. Weave ribbon through tr. around doll's waist and tie. Decorate hat and purse as you like.
