Crochet Spiral Wris Keychain

This keychain is a great crochet project for anyone from beginners to seasoned creators. For those that are new to crocheting it is a fun and quick way to practice the basic stiches of a chain and a double crochet. It is also a very fast project that lets you finish something in the time it takes to watch your favorite show. So you have that sense of acomplishment that gives you the confidence and sense of acomplishment that motivates you to go on to the next project (or to just make more keychains).

For those that are more seasoned the keychain is an excellent way to use up some of that yarn you have hanging around in your craft area. It is also a project to keep in your backpocket when you forget you need a quick gift.

While the end product of this project is a keychain, you can use this method to make bracelets or scrunchies or really anything you can imagaine.

These instructions should be a basic guide, but this is a crocheted keychain, not a nuclear bomb, so do a couple, and then get creative. Use different types of yarn, different sizes of hooks, or make multiples rows. There is no limit to how you can make this simple crochet spiral your own.

Cotton yarn (I used some that I had left from another project, I would say I used less than 1/4 of a skein)

You can really use any yarn you have or you like. I like using cotton yarn for this project because it has less stretch than some of the others.

4mm (G) crochet hook

Use whatever size that gives you the look you want. This size worked well for me because it kept the guage tight, but workable.

A split key ring

Using a basic chain stitch, chain 50. Turn

Once you have made this project and get an idea of the size, you can make your chain as long as you would like.

In the 3rd chain from your hook double crochet 3 times.

Insert a stich marker in the loop space created at the end of the chain.

Continue with 3 double crochet in each stitch until the end of the chain.

During the course of this step your chain will become a spiral. You may need to manipulate it to make sure the spiral is going all in the same direction. Sometimes it gets wonkey when you are working on it.

After the last stich insert hook into the space marked with the stich marker and join with a slip stich.

Fasten off. Trim end of yarn.

Add the split ring where you joined the ends together.

You can either add the ring by sliding it through stiches you created or in loop so it moves around the keychain. It just depends on what you prefer.
