This project is adapted from a pattern in the book: Crochet Jewelry I bought several years ago with a few changes. I initially followed the instruction exactly to make a pair of gift earrings and found a few changes could make the earrings better. In this document, I included the changes. The original pattern is for intermediate crochet skill. I have included so much details in this document, even if you are new to crochet, give this project a try. Maybe this will be your new skill in the new year of 2022.

If you have intermediate crochet skill, you can skip this step and go to next step.

If you are new, I made a video demonstrating every stitch and skill used in this project including how to begin crochet with a slip knot, how to hold working yarn and hook, chain stitch (ch), slip stitch (sl), single crochet (sc), single crochet two together (sc2tog), and fasten off. Practice these with regular yarn and hook first. This project uses much smaller hook and thinner thread, being familiar with the used crochet basics will make it easier.

For those who are "read" people, the descriptions and illustrations are for you.

Crochet 2 Scarves

To make the scarf, ch 28 using C. Fasten off.

With newly learned or already possessed crochet basics, this step is as easy as breeze.

I'm colored challenged. I had a hard time to decide the best color for snowman's scarves, so I made them in three colors. In the end, I think I like the metallic tangerine better. What color of scarves do you like for the snowman earrings ?

Using a tapestry needle, insert it into the felt beads, thread the thread end to it and pull though and cut to hide the thread ends.

For each earring, Tie the scarf around the neck and use the tapestry needle to pull the ends inside to hide them and to attach scarf ends to body.

For each earring, sew a hat onto the snowman‘s head using B and hide the thread ends the same way as body and scarf ends.

Using black thread, sew a couple of stitches on the snowman's head for each eye.

Twist open the loop of an ear wire, attach it to the top of the hat, then twist the loop securely closed.

Voila!
