Crochet Roses

These little roses are perfect for adding to hair clips, bags, or anything else you can think of.

They are made in two parts and stitched together, or you can forgo the leaf and just have the flower.

Materials

Here is a list of the things you will need.

Crochet Cotton ( in red and green)

Size 7 (1.5mm) crochet hook

Scissors

Tapestry or embroidery needle

Glossary of Terms

A handy guide to the abreviations I will be using

Ch: Chain

Ch sp: Chain Space

Sl st: Slip Stitch

Sc: Single Crochet

Hdc: Half Double Crochet

Dc: Double Crochet

Tc: Treble Crochet

Beginning the Rose/First Set of Petals

With Red

Ch 4 and sl st to make a look

in the loop *Dc 3 and sl st* Repeat two more times. (3 petals)

Thrid Set of Petals

Turn your first set of petals so you are looking at the back of them

*Ch2 and sl st into the middle of the next petal* Repeat 2 more times. Ch 2 and sl st with first sl st. (4 Ch sp)

In the Ch Sp *Dc 4 and sl st into the previous sl st* Repeat 3 more times (4 petals)

Fourth Set of Petals

Looking at the back of your rose again Sl st into the middle of the first petal

*Ch 3 and sl st in the middle of the petal* Repeat 3 times ending the third time by sl st into the first. (4 ch sp)

*Dc 5 in each ch sp and sl st in every sl st* Repeat 3 more times. (4 Petals)

Fifth Set of Petals

Turn you flower so you see the back and press all the petals you have forward.

*Ch 2 and push your hook under the base ch of the last round of petals to make your sl st.* Repeat 3 times for each petal. Ch 2 and sl st to first. (5 ch sp)

For each Ch sp *Dc 2 Tc Dc 2, and sl st for every sl st* Repeat 4 more times to last.

Tie off and cut the yarn. Weave in the ends.

Making the Leaf

To make the leaf take green and Ch 7

In the second ch from hook sc, hdc, dc in the next 2, hdc, sc 2 in the next one.

Do not turn your work but work back up to the first stitch along the other side.

hdc in the next space, dc in the next 2, hdc, sc 2 in one.

Ch 1 and tie off with enough yarn left to thread through the needle and attach to the rose.

Weave in the other end.
