Crochet Rainbow Coin Purse

The rainbow contest made me think what could I make for it. Crochet is my passion and hence went forth to make a Rainbow purse.

This is a beginners project. Fancy looking crochet rainbow purse would be unique and cute to carry.

The first thing to do is crochet in circles. You will need crochet yarn in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. A cute little coin purse!

Materials

Yarn - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet

Crochet Hook - 4 mm

Scissors

Needle

Zipper

Terms Used:

sl st - Slip Stitch

Ch - Chain

dc - Double crochet

Purple Yarn

Start with purple yarn.

Ch 4 and join with Slst with purple yarn

Purple - 2

Ch 3. This will be counted as 1 DC.

Do 11 DC in the center of the circle.

Indigo

Join the Indigo yarn Ch 3. Dc in same space.

Do 2 Dc between every stitch and join with a Sl st.

You will have total of 24 stitches.

Blue

Join Blue yarn. Ch 3 and Dc in same space.

DC in next space.

Do 2DC,DC all the way around circle.

End with a Sl St.

Green

Join the Green yarn Ch 3. Dc in same space. DC in next two spaces

Repeat 2 Dc,Dc,Dc all around circle and join with a Sl st. You will have total of 48 stitches.

Yellow

Join the Yellow yarn Ch 3. Dc in same space. DC in next three spaces

Repeat 2 Dc,Dc,Dc,Dc all around circle and join with a Sl st. You will have total of 60 stitches.

Orange

Join the Orange yarn Ch 3. Dc in same space. DC in next four spaces

Repeat 2 Dc,Dc,Dc,Dc, Dc all around circle and join with a Sl st.

Red

Join the Red yarn Ch 3. Dc in same space. Dc in next five spaces

Repeat 2 Dc,Dc,Dc,Dc, Dc, Dc all around circle and join with a Sl st.

Fold it in half.

Zipper Length

Measure a zipper of length more than the opening of purse.

Secure the ends of the zipper with stitches using yarn.

Sew Zipper

Pin your zipper in place with a safety pin. Hand stitch it on. When you are done with one side do the same on the other portion of the zipper.

You have now attached the zipper onto the purse.

Lining

Take a piece of fabric and cut out a semicircle which is of the size of purse.

Similarly cut out another semicircle of same size.

Sew Lining

Sew the lining in the straight side.

Finish Lining

Sew the lining onto the zipper. Start sewing from one side to another.
