Crochet Penguin Tuxe

This is a crochet pattern for the lookalike penguin Tuxe that is a look-a-like of Tux the Linux Penguin. Or you can just be making a cute penguin its up to you I will be using simple amigurumi basics. This pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Also as a note I stitched everything on as I went but I have the last step as stitching the stuff all on.

Materials

Yarn - Black, Yellow, White (This pattern uses Chunky size yarn for the body but the rest of the body parts use worsted)

Crochet Hook (5mm for body)(3.75{f} for parts) {Use the hook that works with your yarn}

Hints

-For Amigurumi you can either use a smaller hook or do tighter stitches so the stuffing won't show

-For this pattern if you are new to crochet but want to try it you can use blue yarn to make the penguin to make it easier to see the stitches.

- Use an invisible decrease so everything looks a bit cleaner

- Do not stuff to much of to little, I just stuff it with small pieces of stuffing until its firmness satisfies me but if you stuff it to much the stuffing shows and to little and they look like a deflated balloon.

Body (Black)

Round 1: sc 6 in mr (6)

Round 2: sc inc around (12)

Round 3: "sc, sc inc" around (18)

Round 4: "2 sc, sc inc" around (24)

Round 5: "2 sc, sc inc" around (32) {If using worsted yarn just increase around more till its about 2.5" wide so it works with the rest of the pattern}
Round 6-15 : sc around (32) {Whole thing will be about 3.5” tall}

Round 16: “2 sc, sc dec” around (24)

Round 17: sc around Round 18: “2 sc, sc dec” around (18) Round 19-20: sc around (18)

Round 21: “2 sc, sc inc” around (24) *Stuff Body*

Round 22-27: sc around (24) {head about 2”}

Round 28: “2 sc, sc dec” around (18)

Round 29: “sc, sc dec” (12) *Stuff Head*

Round 30: sc dec around (6)

Finish off, and close

Wings x2

Row 1: ch 11

Row 2: sc along, ch 1 turn (10)

Row 3: sc dec, 8 sc, ch 1 turn (9)

Row 4: sc 7, sc dec, ch 1 turn (8)

Row 5: sc dec, 6 sc, ch 1 turn (7)

Row 6: sc down to the tip (around 10 or 11)

Belly - White

Row 1: ch 10

Row 2: 8 sc, 3 sc in last ch, 8 sc working down other side, slip stitch (slp stch)

Row 3: ch 2, hdc inc in first stitch, 8 hdc, 2 hdc inc, 8 hdc, hdc inc slp stch

Row 4: ch 2, hdc inc, 10 hdc, 2 hdc inc, 10 hdc, hdc inc, slp stch

FO cut leaving a long tail and stitching to the belly

1: 4 sc in mr

2: “sc, sc inc” twice

3: sc around

2 sc toes together so each end one will have 4 stitches and the middle one will have 2

Main foot

1: sc around all toes (10)

Beak

Round 2: “sc inc, 2 sc” twice (8)

Eyes x2 (Start with Black)

Round 1: 3 sc in mr (switch to white)

Round 2: sc inc around

If you did not do like I did when I made this pattern that means that you just made all the parts now you need to put it all together.

1. The first thing that you should put on is the wings flippers so that you can have them angled towards the front of your penguin.

2. Now that you know which is your front and which is your back you can do the face. The beak and eyes so you have it all nicely aligned.

3. Now you do the belly, it is important to do this before the feet because the feet overlap the belly a little bit.

4. And lastly you put on its little feet.
