Crochet Fairy Bookmark
I came up with an unusual crocheted bookmark for a book: a caught fairy, flattened by a book (18 cm tall or 22 cm with wings). As a result, you can see the legs of this fairy (amigurumi style) stick out from the book and her petal skirt. This fairy has also wonderful wings.
Inside the fairy there is a wire frame, so you can give it any pose. You can also use this fairy as an unusual accessory by sticking it in your pocket (for example, on the chest of a jacket). Legs of fairy will stick out of your pocket. Isn't that funny?
P.S. I'm tired of fighting with sites that steal my instructables regardless of the license (which is indicated in the upper left corner). Sorry but I decided to add attribution to my photos. I know it looks a little annoying, but it annoys me even more to see my works under someone else's authorship or for sale.
Gathering the Necessary Material
You need:
electric twin wire with white (or light color) wrap (I used copper wire), about 47 cm long,
wire cutters,
pliers,
cotton yarn for body of the fairy flesh-colored or white (then dye them at the end of crocheting), 560 m / 100 g,
silk yarn for the dress (I used blue color), 260 m / 50 g,
white silk yarn for wings, 260 m / 50 g,
floss or thread for hair (I used wheat-color), eyes (black or gray color), lips (red color),
thread No. 40 same color as yarn for body,
polyester fiberfill,
hook 1.10 mm,
needle,
scissors,
ruler,
knitting needle,
acrylic paints for fabric,
brush,
starch,
water,
hot glue,
comb,
film.
Making the Frame
Bend the wire in half and form the main part of the body frame of the fairy (head, neck, shoulders, waist, hips, legs), observing the proportions (photo).
Form a framework for the wings: cut outer wire on the top of the head in half, then cut lengthwise to the shoulders and spread the veins (photo).
Form the arms: cut the wire along the legs to the armpits and spread the wires. Cut off the excess (photo).
The Legs
You will need to know how to make:
chain (ch),
slip stitch (sl st),
magic ring (magic circle) (mr),
single crochet (sc),
half double crochet (hdc),
double crochet (dc),
triple (or treble) crochet (tr),
double treble crochet (dtr),
triple treble crochet (trtr),
increase (inc) (2 sc in 1 stitch),
invisible decrease (dec) (sc 2 stitches together),
bobble stitch (mb),
picot (p),
finish off crochet.

Crochet the second wing the same way, just don’t cut the thread, but continue crocheting.
Body Coloring
If you used white thread for fairy’s body and want to get a flesh color, mix acrylic paints to get desired color in a small amount of water and carefully paint the fairy’s body with it. Cotton yarn absorbs water with pain well, so do not apply it in large quantities very close to the dress, otherwise the dress will be painted too.
Before you start dyeing, make sure that you get the right shade. Test it: crochet a small piece of the same thread, color and let it dry. Paint under natural light. Let the paint dry well. If you didn’t like the color, then try to wash the fairy.
If the wings do not hold well, then starch them. Iron with a warm iron.
The Face
During further work, wrap the doll’s body with film.
Mark on the face a place for the eyes, mouth, nose. You can first draw the face on paper (circle the outline of the head on paper, and then draw eyes, mouth, nose in the place you like), and then mark it on the crocheted face. Color the back of the head in hair color.
Embroider lips, eyes, eyebrows, nose (photos). For eyebrows, better use a thread slightly darker than for hair. Bend the head of fairy for easier embroidery.
Color the back of the head in color of hair (to hide stitches).
If it is difficult for you to embroider such small eyes, you can draw them on cardboard or fabric, cut and then glue.
Hair
Determine what length of hair you want to make.
Fold the threads several times or wrap them on a piece of cardboard of the required size, and then cut into pieces of double the necessary hair length.
Insert two threads into a needle eye and insert under the thread of stitch on head outline (photo).
Remove the needle, fold the thread in half and tie two knots (photo). Do this with each stitch of the head outline.
Do the same on the neck at the back, attaching threads. Tie these threads in the same way but one by one to the top of the head - they will cover the back of the head (photo).
Comb the hair and make a haircut for your fairy (cut the edges of the threads).
Make a bang (tie another row of threads to the top of the head and to the side) (photo).
