Daisies are timeless symbols of purity, simplicity, and joy. Their delicate beauty can brighten any space, whether used as part of your home decor or as accents on clothing and accessories. The cheerful nature of daisies makes them a wonderful addition to both spring and summer projects, and their versatility allows them to bring light and happiness all year round.
Imagine decorating your home with dainty crocheted daisy garlands or embellishing your favorite hats, bags, or even cushions with these lovely flowers! Whether you're crafting for yourself or for someone special, these daisy appliques are sure to be a hit. Plus, because they're quick to make and require only basic crochet skills, they are perfect for beginners who want a fun and satisfying project.
Why Crochet Daisies?
- Versatile Decoration: You can use them to add charm to home decor such as garlands, pillows, or blankets, or to spruce up your accessories like scarves, hats, and bags.
- Perfect for Gifting: Make a bunch of daisy appliques and attach them to cards or gift wraps, or include them in a DIY project for a loved one.
- Customizable: While the classic white petals with a yellow center are timeless, feel free to play with colors. Imagine purple, pink, or even rainbow daisies!
Project Overview:
Today, I’ll be sharing the pattern for a Quick and Easy Crochet Daisy Applique. This pattern is designed to be beginner-friendly, and the flowers work up very quickly. With just a few stitches and some colorful yarn, you can create a garden of daisies in no time!
Finished Size:
The finished size of each daisy is approximately 2 inches across. This size is perfect for adding as small embellishments or grouping together to form larger projects.
Supplies
Supplies You’ll Need:
- Yarn: Choose a cotton yarn in white for the petals and yellow for the center, but feel free to experiment with other colors!
- Hook: Use a crochet hook appropriate for your yarn size. I recommend a 3.5 mm hook for most standard cotton yarns, but you can adjust depending on your tension and yarn weight.
- Scissors: To cut your yarn at the end of each round.
- Yarn needle: For weaving in your ends and making your work neat.
Video Tutorial:
For those who prefer visual learning, I’ll give the link for the detailed video tutorial to guide you through every step of this project. You can follow along as I demonstrate the stitches and techniques used to make your daisy.

Round 1 (Center):
- Begin by creating a Magic Circle (also known as a magic ring).
- Chain 1 (this chain does not count as a stitch; it is just to bring the yarn to working height).
- Make 6 Single Crochets inside the Magic Circle.
- Pull the tail of the yarn to tighten the Magic Circle and close the gap in the center.
- Slip stitch into the first Single Crochet to close the round.
At the end of Round 1, you should have a small circle of 6 stitches.
Round 2 (Increasing the Center):
- Chain 1 (again, this chain is just to bring the yarn up and does not count as a stitch).
- Make 2 Single Crochets into each stitch from the previous round (you will now have 12 stitches in total).
- Slip stitch into the first Single Crochet to close the round.
Your daisy’s center is now complete, and you’re ready to add the petals
Round 3 (Creating the Petals):
- Change to your petal color while making the Slip Stitch at the end of Round 2.
- In the first stitch:
- Chain 3 (this forms the base of your petal).
- In the same stitch, make 1 Half Double Crochet, 1 Double Crochet, and 1 Half Double Crochet.
- Chain 3 again, and then Slip Stitch into the same stitch to complete the petal.
- Move to the next stitch and repeat the following steps for each petal:
- Slip Stitch into the stitch, then Chain 3.
- Make 1 Half Double Crochet, 1 Double Crochet, and 1 Half Double Crochet in the same stitch.
- Chain 3 and Slip Stitch back into the same stitch to finish the petal.
Continue this process around the circle to create all the petals. You should have 6 petals at the end of this round.
Finishing Your Daisy:
Once you have completed all of the petals, you can fasten off and cut your yarn, leaving a tail long enough to weave in neatly with a yarn needle. Carefully weave in the ends, and your delicate daisy applique is complete!
